Well how about an update on my yearly goals?
1. Read 50 Books (I have already started my tab up top to keep track of my books.)I am currently reading # 35 for the year and I have started doing book reviews here on my lovely little blog.
2. Run in 3 racesI'm all registered for 2. The marathon relay at the end of April and a color run 5K on June 2nd. I'm also planning on the zoo run run again (sept 23rd) and a hot chocolate 5K with some friends in November.
3. Start (and stick with) another method of exercise besides running. Maybe yoga?
Well I'm running and doing my sit up and plank challenge. I have also added in a push up challenge. I haven't run in a week though because of my stupid strep throat and cold.
4. Organize my life, and our home better.
5. Make 2 new recipes a month.
This month I made a freaking amazing chocolate cake to celebrate a few birthdays. I found the recipe on The Country Cook. I also made Panera's Mac & Cheese recipe. It was really good. not quite the same, i tasted too much four but I didn't have any hot sauce so I'm thinking that would have covered up the flour taste. I also made a Chicken Cordon Bleu Casserole that J LOVED. Next time I'm going to use noodles instead of rice as I think I will like that better.
6. Be a better friend.
I actually haven't done too well with that this month. I'm in a bit of a funk. I need to snap out of it.
7. Be a better wife and mom.
8. Be happier.
9. Finally re-do our bathroom.
10. Take a vacation with J. Just J.
11. Learn more about photography.
I took a photography class I had a groupon for and I really enjoyed learning a bit more about my camera. I still have a long way to go though.
12. Work harder (in all aspects of life).
13. Work at starting this business I have had in my head for too long.

Book Obsessed...
I think by now you might be starting to realize how book obsessed I am so here are 2 things to push you over that edge to know I am totally book obsessed.
1. I participate (almost daily) on a board that discusses books. All about books, pretty much anything to do with them. I have gotten a million good recommendations from the women on this board and I am forever grateful for it.
2. One of the awesome women on this board is hosting an incredible book giveaway (that I would LOVE to win, obvi) You should totally check out her blog, Imperfection is the New Pink. (Um, can I just say how much I love her tagline? Mother, Reader, Cupcake Eater. Those are 3 awesome things in my mind!)
Here is a link to her awesome giveaway. If you go check it out you will see that she has met all these amazing authors. Can we say Jealous???
Go check out her blog you won't regret it!

PARTYYYY
I know you are probably in shock I have had so many posts the last few days. ... roll with it.... it probably won't last long. ;)
A few weekends ago one of my awesome friends hosted a Let's Get Messy party for all the kids!
It was a blast!
Brynn had so much fun playing with all kinds of messy things.
There was play dough... made with Jello.

Cloud dough ... made with flour and baby oil.

Colored Spaghetti Noodles (B's favorite!)

Finger Paints ...

and some sort of soap/water/toilet paper mess.

Brynn seriously LOVED it all. And she adored having so may kids to play with. Usually it is just her and Chance or her and one other kid. It was interesting to watch her interact with kids. I have a great word to describe my daughter after the day... BOSSY! She thinks it is her way or no way! ;)
You can find recipes for all of these fun things on pinterest or a random website just by using google. :) Now go have fun and get messy!

The Fault In Our Stars - John Green
My second 5* book of the year was The Fault In Our Stars by John Green

I finished this book and just sat and cried for about 20 minutes. Ugly cried. J looked at me like I was nuts. (You may want to read this book in private.)
I REFUSE to spoil this book for anyone. I would have been devastated had it been spoiled for me. Due to that I am going to copy and paste the description from goodreads.
Diagnosed with Stage IV thyroid cancer at 12, Hazel was prepared to die until, at 14, a medical miracle shrunk the tumours in her lungs... for now.
Two years post-miracle, sixteen-year-old Hazel is post-everything else, too; post-high school, post-friends and post-normalcy. And even though she could live for a long time (whatever that means), Hazel lives tethered to an oxygen tank, the tumours tenuously kept at bay with a constant chemical assault.
Enter Augustus Waters. A match made at cancer kid support group, Augustus is gorgeous, in remission, and shockingly to her, interested in Hazel. Being with Augustus is both an unexpected destination and a long-needed journey, pushing Hazel to re-examine how sickness and health, life and death, will define her and the legacy that everyone leaves behind.
Even with just C&Ping here I'm still afraid of giving too much away. This book wrecked me, in the best way possible. It was amazing. Everything about this book took my breath away.
Read it.
Trust me.

Divergent - Veronica Roth
Divergent by Veronica Roth was the first book I read this year that got a 5* rating.

This book is a Young Adult Dystopia, which should mean something to you if you have read The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. Most people, if having read HG will compare the 2 series. (Yes it is a series, the second book, Insurgent, comes out May 1st. The wait is KILLING me!) I am guilty of this comparison myself, (my first comment after finishing was that I liked it more than HG.) It is easy to compare the 2 for 3 reasons. 1. It is Dystopia. 2. It is geared towards young adults. 3. The female character is young, but so amazingly strong. That people is where the similarities end.
This book takes place after the world as we know it has collapsed and has been rebuilt. Society has been divided into 5 different factions based on dominant personality traits. At the age of 16 everyone must take a test and is sorted into which faction you fit best, though you are given the final say and chose which faction you want to spend your life in. Tris, the FMC (female main character), surprises everyone including herself with her choice.
The characters in this book are strong and determined and so likeable. (Four, the Male Main Character, is totally crush-worthy BTW.)
I don't want to say too much because I could very easily give away plot parts that would ruin the book and that would be devastating. Just trust me when I tell you you need to read it. I have already had 5 people read it based on my review (and the fact that it was my book club pick) and they have all LOVED it and can't wait for part 2.
Oh and something amazing I forgot to mention... Veronica Roth was 22 when this book was published. 22 YEARS OLD PEOPLE!!! Way to go!

Starting Some Book Reviews
I'm slightly obsessed with reading.
You can check my 2011 book list and my 2012 book list for proof....
My 2012 book list is kinda scaring me at the moment.
As of February 19th I hit a total of 30 books for the year. 30 books!!! There is something wrong with me. I really truely am not neglecting the rest of my life. I swear.
Of all of these books I have read so far this year I only have 2 5* books. I feel it is my duty to share these books with anyone who will listen to me (along with the Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon). That said those will be the first 2 reviews I share here.
First review coming tomorrow. Oh! For the record I haven't ever written a book review before so bear with me as I start this.

Goal Check In
Checking in on my yearly goals seems like a good thing to do on the first of the month. Don't you agree?
Let's get to it!
1. Read 50 Books (I have already started my tab up top to keep track of my books.)
I finished book 12 last night. I'm way ahead of schedule there. My favorite has been Divergent by Veronica Roth... a must read for everyone.
2. Run in 3 races
One of my good friends asked if I wanted to do a marathon relay with her, her hubs and her brother so I'm all registered for my first race of the year. April 28th I will be running approx 6.5 miles in the IL Marathon Relay.
3. Start (and stick with) another method of exercise besides running. Maybe yoga?
I have started a plank challenge and a sit up challenge, still need to try out yoga.
4. Organize my life, and our home better.
working on it. I found some new things to get my life in order and found a new way to store wrapping paper at least.
5. Make 2 new recipes a month.
Check. I made a new (amazing) potato soup, and a new fajitas recipe, oh and a new cookie recipe (yum).
6. Be a better friend.
7. Be a better wife and mom.
8. Be happier.
9. Finally re-do our bathroom.
10. Take a vacation with J. Just J.
11. Learn more about photography.
I have a class I'm taking this weekend I'm quite excited about.
12. Work harder (in all aspects of life). 13. Work at starting this business I have had in my head for too long.
Well some of these I don't really know how to comment on but take my word for it I'm working on them. :)
Picture time!!!
Playing with dad before bed.

Eating a Hawaiian roll with a fork and cooked carrots with her fingers...

Playing dress up at Grams.

Cousins sitting in Grams fridge. B wasn't happy Chance came and made her squish over.
